UV printing represents one of the most significant segments of the printing industry. Advanced post-press processing-such as hot foil stamping, lamination, embossing/debossing, and various forms of specialty coating-has become commonplace, with "special-effect" coatings emerging as a prominent trend. The rise of these diverse coating techniques is largely driven by technological advancements and the evolving configurations of printing presses. In the production of folding cartons for cosmetics and tobacco products, sheet-fed offset presses remain the dominant technology. For elements that cannot be effectively produced via offset printing, screen printing or sheet-fed gravure printing are often employed. Modern sheet-fed offset presses are now routinely equipped with multiple in-line coating units, facilitating the seamless application of special-effect coatings. This is particularly relevant for cosmetics packaging, which frequently utilizes specialized substrates-such as metallic, laminated, or metallized paperboard, as well as pre-coated boards-all of which are seeing growing adoption and steady, sustained market growth. Furthermore, new transparent composite materials are increasingly being used for plastic packaging. Because these substrates cannot be processed using conventional methods, UV technology has become essential to achieving the desired visual effects; consequently, both UV-curable coatings and UV-curable inks are seeing widespread use. Given this trajectory, UV printing is set to become the industry standard, ensuring consistent, high-quality output rather than relying on the unpredictability of traditional processes. Robust curing systems at the delivery end-along with intermediate curing units-are no longer considered "luxury" add-ons, but rather essential components. These technical capabilities provide printing enterprises with a broad spectrum of application possibilities, fully meeting the complex and specialized requirements of the cosmetics packaging industry.
