UV-curable digital inkjet ink-a type of printing ink developed from UV-curable printing ink technology with a history spanning over 50 years-consists of monomers, prepolymers, and UV photoinitiators. This technology is widely used in the printing industry, primarily for printing on non-absorbent materials; it is compatible with various substrates, including metal, glass, and ceramics. Once cured, the ink layer exhibits high hardness and resistance to solvents.
In 2019, the demand for UV-curable inkjet ink in China reached 12,700 metric tons, with a projected increase to 23,900 metric tons by 2025. Key application areas include advertising graphics (40%) and decorative crafts (35%). Domestic UV-curable inks are now independently developed, with a supply chain that spans from chemical raw materials to finished UV-curable formulations. By overcoming the limitations of traditional processes, this technology has expanded into new domains, such as insulating coatings for power batteries and lenticular lenses for 3D printing.
